Frank Martin is a retired Air Force intelligence officer and Vietnam veteran. He holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Public Administration. For 25 years following his military retirement, he created and directed a nonprofit charity that provided training and counseling to youth sports organizations. In 1991 he and Spurs Coach, Gregg Popovich, created the Spurs Drug-Free Youth Basketball league which is believed to be the first socially themed youth sports program in the nation. The following year President Bush personally presented Pop and Frank with a Point of Light award for outstanding contributions to the President’s war on drugs initiative. Frank was named a San Antonio Hometown Hero in 1998 and San Antonio Sportsman of the Year in 2006. His volunteer activities include over 5,000 hours of service to Morgan’s Wonderland. “For some time I’ve looked for a way to directly contribute to the economic success of our great city and being appointed to serve on the EDC Board allows me to do just that.”
