Success Story – Rackspace
ifFor over fifteen years, Windcrest has had a relationship with Rackspace which resulted in the renovation of the Windsor Park Mall, the continued growth of this outstanding hosting company, and added significant growth along Eisenhauer Road to the South of the Campus. This economic development project continues to be recognized as one of the most innovative projects in economic development circles. The project required the cooperation of many, including the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, North East ISD, and the Windcrest Economic Development Corporation, to name a few.
The community has not only gained the huge economic impact of the over 2,000 jobs throughout the years and the prestige of having a high-tech company headquartered in Windcrest but has seen great growth on the 110 acres along Eisenhauer Road that were also annexed as part of this complicated deal. Over one million square feet of new space has been built bringing in many new companies and hundreds of jobs to Windcrest. The commercial development at the corner of Eisenhauer Road and IH 35 where QuikTrip is now building their new $11 million Travel Center is also a result of the Rackspace deal. We expect continued economic success from the Windcrest / Rackspace relationship in the coming years.
